eThekwini mayor appears in court

The ANC in the eThekwini Region says it is aware of the appearance of its chairperson, Zandile Gumede, and regional deputy secretary, Mondli Mthembu, this morning in the Durban Commercial Crimes Court.
Gumede who is also the mayor of Ethekwini and her co-accused Mthembu are facing charges of corruption and tender fraud.
Its alleged that there are service providers that were paid millions for tenders even though they did not render any services.
ANC Regional Secretary, Bheki Ntuli, says as a party they subscribe to the principle that one is innocent until proven otherwise and they urge everyone to respect the court processes.
