EThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda Encourages More People To Test For HIV

Ethekwini municipality mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda, says communities must ensure that they check their HIV and Aids status, so to protect their loved ones.

Kaunda is addressing delegates attending the launch of the Undetectable = Untransmittable campaign during the week of the 11th annual South African AIDS conference in Durban.

The launch brings together a diverse group of key stakeholders, including government officials, renowned medical professionals, community leaders, and advocates for HIV and AIDS awareness.

The U=U campaign aims to educate and create awareness about the ground-breaking scientific evidence that people living with HIV who are on treatment as prescribed, can suppress the virus and not transmit it to their partners and unborn babies.

Kaunda says taking the treatment helps to suppress the viral load of the disease.
