Protesting workers from the eThekwini municipality’s Expanded Public Works Programme have vowed to continue their pickets until their demands are met.
The workers want the municipality and government to follow through on its promise of making them permanent employees.
The protest has been ongoing since last week leaving the municipality with limited staff at its refuse depot.
Municipality spokesperson, Mswakhe Mayisela says the protest action is illegal and has not been approved by the municipality.
