Written by Mfundo on 10 February, 2021
The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has acknowledged the European Union was late to authorise COVID-19 vaccines.
She admitted that there were shortcomings in the commission’s response to the vaccine.
She earlier faced criticism from members of the European parliament about the way the EU handled the rollout.
In a speech to the EU she said the decision to order vaccines collectively was the right one.
