ANC veteran and businessman, Tokyo Sexwale, says he has reported to Hawks the money stolen from the Heritage Fund in the South African Reserve Bank.
Sexwale had been addressing media in Johannesburg on Thursday afternoon, on the Heritage Fund meant to help poor students with free education and fight against the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He says billions of rands have been stolen from the South African Reserve Bank and the money has been channeled to 18 commercial banks.
Sexwale says he told president Cyril Ramaphosa that there is an attempt to bring back the money stolen from the Heritage Fund in the country as investments.
He says its concerning that investments have become the hub of money laundering.
Meanwhile, one of the South African Reserve bank’s shareholder named Fanie Fondse, who was present at the briefing, described what Sexwale is alleging as the truth.
Last week Fondse laid criminal charges, at the Sandton Police station, against president ramaphosa on alleged corruption related to Shanduka, a company that Ramaphosa was a shareholder in.
These charges relate to a tender Shanduka received, without following due diligence.
The Presidency then issued a statement saying neither Ramaphosa nor any companies in which he held interests has ever received any benefit from school construction in the Free State or anywhere else in the country.
They add that both President Ramaphosa and Shanduka have made substantial financial contributions towards the construction and development of schools.
Sexwale has further pointed fingers to his comrade for the disappearance of some of the money belonging to the Heritage Fund.
The Veteran says he has been scammed by his own comrades.
