Rebecca Malope, a renowned Award winning South African gospel singer, has been honoured with a life-size statue in her hometown of Lekazi in Mpumalanga. The statue was unveiled in front of a large crowd of fans, family, and friends who had gathered to celebrate her achievements. When her life-size statue was unveiled, to her surprise, Malope fell on the floor and had to have been held up by several members of the congregation.
Rebecca Malope has been in the music industry for over 30 years and has released 36 albums. She has won numerous awards, including the South African Music Award (SAMA) for Best Female Artist and Best Gospel Album, and has sold millions of albums worldwide. Her music has touched the hearts of many people and has brought hope and inspiration to those who have listened to it.
She captioned after her recognition:
To God be the Glory for all that he has done 😭
It is only by the grace of God that I am still celebrated after 35 years as a gospel music minister. It is only by God’s grace that I live to see how much my music still touches people’s hearts after all these years! It is only by the grace of God that I have a statue made for me, wow! Sifana nami cobo cobo!
Oh Father, who am I that you are so mindful of me??? I can never thank you enough for your grace, mercy and favour upon my life 🙌🏾
Thank you to all the artists that honoured the invite and ministered so amazingly.
Thank you to @thebears_palace for your incredible hospitality and for honouring me in this unimaginable way.
Thank you to all the sponsors and event partners who played a role in making this event a success.
Glory be to God 🙏🏾
Having been in the gospel industry for 35 years being able to travel the world and spread the gospel, Rebecca describes her journey as, “out of this world”.
“I have been able to touch more hearts than I could have imagined as a little girl working at a tobacco farm back in Mbombela. I have been honoured, celebrated, and given my flowers while I am alive and able to smell them. It’s been an incredible 35 years.
Rebecca added she hopes her legacy can inspire other young people to believe that anything is possible. As a person who grew up with so much suffering and pain, God has lifted me from poverty to prosperity. I want my life journey to forever be a testimony of encouragement for people to see the power of God and recognise how he can change your life and lift you from where you are to heights you can’t even imagine.”
When sharing the good news online, the Twitter user captioned,
“Dr Rebecca Malope was today honoured at Mpumalanga with a Statue; look at her reaction when it was unveiled; it is truly amazing 35 Years in The Music Industry and still going strong. We love you @DrRebeccaMalope Here’s to many more years!!!!”
