The National Health Department says it is not yet planning to impose any COVID-19 restrictions, after experts confirmed South Africa’s first case of a coronavirus infection caused by the new, highly transmissible XBB.1.5.
Health experts are however warning South Africans to remain vigilant and cautious over Covid-19.
