Deputy President David Mabuza says the late minister in the presidency, Jackson Mthembu’s contribution to the country’s freedom and democracy deserves to be cherished by generations.

Mabuza has been virtually delivering a keynote tribute at the official memorial service in honour of minister Mthembu.

He died of COVID-19 related complications last week.

Mthembu’s official funeral was held on Sunday, in his hometown in Mpumalanga.

Mabuza says Mthembu symbolises a generation of freedom fighters who came after June 1976 and in his role as the Minister in the Presidency, he enhanced coordination and fostering partnerships with social partners.

“He actively worked with administrative leadership in the institution as we sought to build an agile, responsive and fit for purpose Presidency that provides leadership at the apex of government, in order to tackle critical issues facing our country,” adds Mabuza
