Government Will Not Support Miss SA at Miss Universe

The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, says it has proven difficult to persuade the Miss SA pageant organisers to reconsider their decision to partake in Miss Universe to be held in Israel next month.
The Human Rights Watch has accused the Middle Eastern country of crimes against humanity in its conflict with the Palestinians.
Despite the organisers of Miss SA declaring that Lalela Mswane will represent SA in the Miss Universe pageant in Israel, the youth wing of the Palestine Solidarity Alliance has been unrelenting in its call for her to withdraw from the event.
Sport, Arts and Culture Spokeperson Masechaba Khumalo says as the legitimate representative of the people of South Africa, the government cannot in good conscience associate itself with such.
