South Africa’s Fly weight Boxer Smangele “Smash” Hadebe says she’s been pushing herself really hard to prepare for her first international fight in August. Hadebe will take on Mexico’s Alma Meraz in a World Boxing Council (WBC) ) silver flyweight title fight in Midvaal. The KwaThema born fighter is fresh from winning the coveted Female Boxer of the Year award at the South African Boxing awards at the Durban ICC. This award came after her impressive performances in 2022, where she became the first South African female Boxer to win an African title as she defeated Tanzania’s Halima Vunjabei to capture the ABU Flyweight title. Six months later she successuully defended her title against Stumai Muki in Johannsesburg.
Hadebe says getting an opportunity to take part in an international fight is a huge honor for her, and she is pushing hard to get the win. The newly crowned SA Female Boxer of the year added that she has been studying the fighting style of her Mexican opponent and her training camp is prepared specifically for her opponent.
