The Hawks are investigating the breach of bail conditions by self-proclaimed prophet, Shepherd Bushiri, and his wife Mary, after they fled the country.

According to the conditions, the couple could travel within Gauteng and North West until the case was finalised.

Yesterday Bushiri  released a statement announcing their arrival in Malawi, with his lawyer later confirming his departure.

Hawks acting spokesperson Katlego Mogale confirmed that the Bushiris did not report at the police station as per court order.

Meanwhile addressing the media, Bushiri insisted that he and his wife are not running away from being prosecuted.

He has instead accused the South African justice system of not giving him a fair trial in several aspects relating to his case.
