Health Department Says Vaccine Programme on Track

Department of Health Director-General, Sandile Buthelezi, has refuted reports that the government is failing in its efforts to vaccinate the nation against the Coronavirus.

The department has so far vaccinated just over 1.5 million people.

Several organisations have raised concerns over the government’s vaccine rollout plan, saying it’s moving at a snail’s pace despite the rapid infection and death rate.

On Thursday, EFF Leader Julius Malema said government is pretending to be doing something but in actual fact it doing nothing, in terms of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

Buthelezi says their vaccination drive is going according to plan, but challenges have arisen with vaccine manufacturers abroad.
