KwaZulu-Natal Health MEC, Nomagugu Simelani-Zulu, says today’s nursing assessment tests at the Dr Pixley Ka Seme hospital, in KwaMashu north of Durban, have been rescheduled.
This comes after thousands of candidates seeking to be employed as nurses at this new hospital pitched up yesterday, posing a risk as there was no adherence to the COVID-19 regulations, including social distancing.
Simelane-Zulu says they are in negotiations with the municipality regarding the different venues for the interviews.
The are currently on 150 vacant posts for professional nurses at this hospital.
“The reason why we capped the number of candidates at 500 was because there were so many qualified people, we didn’t have another shortlisting criteria except these assessment tests,” explains Simelane-Zulu.
She adds that all those who have been shortlisted will be notified through an SMS when they need to come.
