The South African Human Right Commission has raised alarming concerns about the many challenges facing some schools in the country.

According to the Commission Andre Gaum as schools are gearing up to open next week Monday there are still underlying issues of dilapidated infrastructures.

Guam says overcrowding and lack of proper sanitation are still some of the challenges that need to be addressed.

Guam has called on the Department of Basic Education to fast-track addressing these issues as it is a violation of human rights and an infringement of the right to education.
