The African National Congress (ANC) has threatened to file criminal charges against former Eskom CEO, Andrew de Ruyter, if he doesn’t report his allegations of corruption at the power utility, backed with evidence, to law enforcement agencies in seven days.
It follows damning claims made by De Reyter that senior ANC politicians were aware of looting and criminal activity at the utility.
However, the ruling party says he is duty-bound to act on or report corruption and criminality as a person in authority.
The party has threatened to file charges against De Ruyter for contravening Section 34 if the seven days lapse without a case being opened.
ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu Motsiri elaborates.
