The DA says government must urgently fix the country’s broken immigration system, which has been a breeding ground for vigilantism and criminality.

This follows nation wide anti-crime protests, during which one person has been killed in a suspected vigilante attack.

South Africa’s distrust in government has led to communities forming their own civic organisations with the latest being Operation Dudula calling for illegal foreigners to be kept out of South Africa’s economic activities.

The DA’s, Siviwe Gwarube, says the blame must be placed on populist politicians and leaders who fan the flames of xenophobia in the country.
