The uMhlathuze municipality has finally elected its official bearers following the interruption of the heated inauguration council meeting yesterday.

The IFP has managed to oust the ANC in governing the North Coast economical hub municipality.

After a failure of the ANC’s delaying tactics to appoint the Speaker, Mayor and Deputy Mayor, the council finally manage to elect its office bearers.

This is after ANC councillors stages a walk out, leaving behind EFF, IFP and DA councillors to proceed with the election process as these parties and three other small ones makes the 60% quorum.

IFP’s Nkonzoyakhe Donda has been elected at the new uMhlathuze Mayor unopposed, while IFP’s Tobias Gumede has been elected as new Speaker.

EFF’s Nkululeko Ngubane has been elected as the new Deputy Mayor.
