While rumors of a national shutdown today continue to spread, the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) has confirmed that it will not be leading the shutdown tomorrow.
Santaco has moved to distance itself from speculation that taxis will not be operating due to a planned strike over rising fuel prices.

Taxi associations affiliated with the NTA have begun a consultative process on taxi fares, among other industry-related issues, but have also distanced themselves from tomorrow’s shutdown saying taxis will be operating normally.
Meanwhile, Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says police are closely monitoring the situation and law enforcement officials have been deployed to prevent and combat any forms of criminality.
