Written by Mfundo on 5 February, 2021
The International Criminal Court has convicted former Ugandan rebel commander Dominic Ongwen of 61 of the 70 counts of crimes against humanity he faced.
The charges relate to attacks on four camps for internally displaced people in Uganda in 2004.
The ICC received testimony from over four-thousand victims.
Judge Bertram Schmitt says Ongwen was not a puppet on a string and his guilt is found beyond any reasonable doubt.
