Idols South Africa was first introduced in 2002 with, Heinz Winkler winning the very first season of #IdolsSA and quickly gained popularity among South African audiences. Over the years, the show has produced talented and successful musicians who have made a significant impact to the South African music industry.
The reasons for the cancellation of the show states: ‘massive ratings drop and viewer fatigue’. However, some sources say, ‘high production costs’ which have contributed to the decision. In addition, the changing landscape of the entertainment industry and the shift towards digital platforms may also have played a role.
