IEC Reports on Fraud Incident Detected in eThekwini

A presiding officer in the eThekwini Metro has been arrested in Umbululu south of Durban, after he was caught red handed stuffing marked ballot papers into a ballot box.
IEC CEO Sy Mamabolo says the matter is being handled by the police now, as they are investigating further.
He says such scandalous actions will not be allowed to mar the 2021 Local Government Election.
Sources close to the investigation allege that the presiding officer stuffed marked ballots for the proportional representative councillor and five for the ward councillor.
Mamabolo says the police have been given guidelines of the do’s and don’ts during these elections.
