The IFP says postponing the 2021 local government elections to 2024 will be robbing the citizens of this country their right to vote for their democratic leadership.

Speaking at the sidelines of the by-election voter campaign in KwaDukuza, north of Durban, party President Velenkosini Hlabisa says people’s rights to democratic government should not be infringed.

However, he says should the COVID-19 third wave appear to be stronger, then people’s lives and well being should be prioritized and elections can only be postponed to next year.
