The IFP Youth Brigade is preparing to open a case of defamation of character against uMfolozi Mayor, Smangaliso Mgenge in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

The court action follows allegations made against IFPYB Deputy Publicity Secretary, Lonhle Gumede, accusing him of involvement in a Gender-Based Violence offence.

The party alleges that the Mayor made these utterances during an interview on a current affairs programme, when he was asked by a member of the Youth Brigade why an unqualified acting CFO was employed by the uMfolozi Municipality.

Gumede has told Gagasi FM News that they want the Mayor to publicly retract the accusations leveled against him, or face the full might of law.
