Illegall Conversion of Panel Vans Under Incestigation

The National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications says its dealing decisively with those illegally converting panel vans into passenger carrying mini bus taxis.

The NRCS is briefing the parliamentary transport portfolio committee, on Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s Report into a systematic investigation regarding illegal conversions.

According to Mkhwebane, the regulator was informed of the practice, but failed to take steps to stop this practice which later resulted in accidents.

The are more than 2400 taxis have been converted into mini bus taxis in the country.
