The Department of Social Development has been allocated R58.6 billion.
This includes R44 billion allocated for the 12-month extension of the R350 social relief of distress grant.
Delivering his budget speech in parliament, Godongwana adds that for the 2022/23 fiscal year, grants for the elderly, war veterans, disabled and care dependent, will increase by R90 by April and another R10 in October
He has also announced that the child grant will receive a once off increase of R20 in April.
