China has banned the import of all cloven-hoofed animals and their products from South Africa.

This follows a recent outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the North West.

The department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, has reported seven new confirmed cases and says vaccination is underway to contain the spread.

The department’s Mpho Maja says they are currently engaging with trade partners across the board to update them on the situation.
