The Department of Sports, Arts and Culture says it is all systems go for the R22 million flag project, that caused an uproar and controversy in the country in recent months.
The minister has once again put the flag project back on the table.
In his answer to a parliamentary question, Mthethwa says the project will be referred to the Cabinet for further discussion and a final decision.
He says while he has followed and taken note of public discourse in respect of the monumental flag, this national symbol is pivotal to building a common national identity and advancing unity.
