Jiba given final deadline to convince Parliament that she should keep her job

Written by on 30 October, 2019

Parliament’s portfolio committee on Justice and Correctional Services has resolved to give, Nomgcobo Jiba, a final seven calendar days to make representations regarding President, Cyril Ramaphosa’s, recommendation for her and colleague, Lawrence Mrwebi, to be removed from the National Prosecuting Authority.

This follows a court judgement two weeks ago that Jiba has recourse to make representations to Parliament for her restoration, which she had not exhausted when given an opportunity to do so.

She argues that Ramaphosa’s decision was unconstitutional and wants to be reinstated.
