International Relations and Co-operations Minister, Naledi Pandor, says the donation of a Science Lab and Library to ESiqongweni High School, in Pietermaritzburg, is to encourage the learners to continue producing excellent matric results.

The school, which is located at Imbali unit 13 has become one of the high schools in the KZN that have put themselves on the map for always achieving good matric results despite struggling for infrastructure.

Last month this school was broken into and equipment including laptops, printers and stoves were stolen.

Pandor says part of this donation is keeping the promise that was made by President Cyril Ramaphosa in 2018 when he visited the school.

Meanwhile, the province’s Education MEC Kwazi Mshengu has appealed to the community that they be part of the fight against the vandalising of schools, which has become a trend in this city.

He adds that all those involved in such acts will be hunted and face the full might of the law.
