Newly re-elected Mayor of eThekwini Mxolisi Kaunda has called on all parties represented in the metro’s council to work together in ensuring services are delivered to residents.
After last-minute negotiations with smaller parties, the ANC was able to hold on to the Metro cementing Kaunda’s position who beat the DA’s Nicole Graham.
It was a tight race with Kaunda winning on 113 votes while Graham only bagged 104 votes with the help of the IFP, EFF and other smaller parties.
The ANC also received support from smaller parties including the ABC, whose leader Philani “PG” Mavundla, was elected deputy mayor.
Kaunda has pleaded with members of the council to unite for better service delivery.
