Kieswetter says things are significantly worse at Sars than anticipated

Sars commissioner, Edward Kieswetter, says however badly the Nugent report framed what has happened at the Revenue Service the actual reality is significantly worse.

The commission found that there had been a significant failure of integrity and governance at Sars, and a deliberate dismantling of governance elements.

Speaking at a state capture conference in Johannesburg, Kieswetter says significant steps have been taken to restore the organisation.
