KwaZulu-Natal provincial legislature Speaker Nontombeko Boyce says the State of the Province Address (SOPA) that usually takes place over two days will only be a one day event this year.
Addressing media at the Royal Showgrounds in Pietermaritzburg, Boyce says it will be a hybrid event, with not more than one-thousand people expected on the day.
Premier Sihle ZIkalala is expected to deliver his SOPA on Thursday, 24 February.
This year’s SOPA is expected to cost an estimation of just R1 million and the costs entail all the infrastructure set up, audio-visuals, media buying and travelling for those members who will physically attend at the legislature.
She adds that they are however, looking at avenues and interventions to reduce the cost.
