KZN COGTA Condemns Vandalism on State Owned Assets

The Department of Cooperative Governance in the province has condemned the torching of two vehicles belonging to the Pietermaritzburg’s Provincial Disaster Management Centre.

Unknown assailants torched the vehicles at the centre in an attack believed to be related to the unrest that occurred in the Mkondeni area this week when residents in the Sacca informal settlement participated in a protest.

As a result of this incident, the department has had to remove its vehicles from the centre to an undisclosed location to avert any further damages.

The department has called for the speedy arrest of the culprits.
