KwaZulu-Natal Health MEC, Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu, says nurses must continue to play an integral role in the fight against the spread of COVID 19.
Today is International Nurses Day, honouring women and men, many of whom are on the front line of the Ccoronavirus battle.
The day coincides with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who is considered the founder of modern nursing.
At least 17 076 nurses have contracted COVID 19, with 397 succumbing to the virus.
Simelane-Zulu says if it wasn’t for nurses, the province would not have managed to save as many lives as it has.
