Premier Sihle Zikalala says all sectors must play a role in ensuring that women participate in the country’s economy.
He has officially launched the provincial 365 day campaign for no violence against women and children in Mtubatuba, north of KZN.
South Africans have been urged to participate by wearing attire and ornaments, which symbolize mourning based on their culture, tradition, and religious beliefs.
According to the Clinton Foundation, which runs women empowerment projects across the world, helping women access greater economic opportunities increases a family’s resources for food, healthcare and education.
This year alone, KZN has seen the murder of many women and children, escalate under the national lockdown.
