KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi says crackdown on hijacked buildings will intensify the police’s efforts to fight crime in the province.
He emphasised that people are vulnerable to criminals due to these buildings, which are used as hideouts by those involved in various criminal activities.
The Commissioner has been speaking to the media on the sidelines of a special operation currently underway in the Durban CBD.
The operation aims to address issues related to illegal firearms, undocumented foreigners, and hijacked buildings.
Mkhwanazi added that, with the municipality’s cooperation, much more can be achieved in the fight against crime.
