KZN Youth run announced as curtain raiser for Comrades Marathon

The KZN department of Sports, Arts and Culture in partnership with KZN Athletics announced the 2023 KZN Youth run on Wednesday morning. The event will take place on Saturday, 10 June 2023 at the Kings Park Stadium outer fields and will serve as a curtain raiser for the 2023 Comrades Marathon, as it takes place on the eve of the Ultimate human race. The event will have 5km and 10km races and is said to attract about 3000 young runners from across 11 districts in KZN, and can also be utilized by Comrades Marathon runners as a warm up to the main race on Sunday.

Entries for the race will be collected from schools and districts Youth Run selection races, and comrades Marathon runners who wish to participate. The Winners in the 10km males and females races (under 19 years old only) will each walk away with R3 500, second place gets R3 000 and third-placed finisher will receive R2 500. The The 10km race starts at 08h00 followed by the 5km at 08h40.
