The assault case against EFF leader Julius Malema and the party’s Member of Parliament Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has been postponed at the Randburg magistrate in Gauteng.
This magistrate says the decision is to give the pair a chance to have a free and fair trial.
Both Malema and Ndlozi face charges of assaulting a police officer, Johannes Venter, after they were denied access to the cemeteries at the funeral of late struggle veteran, Winnie Madikizela Mandela in 2018.
Venter in his testimony before the court, said he was only acting on instructions given to all the officers on the ground, to only allow family members access to the cemetery.
He says he was the assaulted by the two members when he refused to grant them entry.
They have both pleaded not guilty.
