The National Liquor Traders Council (NLTC) says government has once again failed to consult with the industry before making a decision that will have irreparable harm on jobs and the economy.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that the sale of alcohol is prohibited both on and off-site for 14 days.

NLTC Convener, Lucky Ntimane, says this comes as a hammer blow to some of their struggling members, adding that what is even more concerning is that it was done without consultation.

Ntimane adds that they are bitterly disappointed by the announcement.
