Liquor Traders Slam Government’s Plan to Raise Alcohol Prices.

The National Liquor Traders Organisation has rejected the government’s proposed plan to combat alcohol abuse by raising alcohol prices through a minimum price.

National Treasury aims to introduce a minimum price for alcoholic beverages.

The public had the opportunity to submit comments from November last year until 15 February this year.

The organisation’s Lucky Ntimane has stated that the illegal alcohol industry is the primary beneficiary of the high tariffs imposed on the sector.
