Eskom CEO André de Ruyter says loadshedding will be lifted this morning (Thursday) and will hopefully stay suspended till after next month’s local government elections.
Stage two loadshedding was implemented on Thursday last week.
De Ruyter says Eskom has shortage of between four- and five-thousand megawatts in generating capacity.

Meanwhile, the power utility is warning that it may be forced to resume load shedding at short notice, if electricity is not used sparingly in order to minimise the possibility of further power cuts.
De Ruyter says they have been able to conduct some repairs to generating units and will continue with other maintenance programme.
He says the power grid remains unstable, calling on the public to assist by switching off unused appliances and lights, or they could resume at load shedding at short notice.
