President Cyril Ramaphosa says the country will, for now, remain on lockdown alert level 3, however, confirms that the National Coronavirus Comand Council (NCCC) will be discussing the possibility of moving to a higher level.
Ramaphosa says the NCCC is yet to meet and discuss the spiking numbers and only then will they make recommendations of any kind regarding the lockdown regulations for the entire country.
His comment comes as Gauteng infections and deaths continue to rise at a very fast pace, followed by the Western Cape.
Ramaphosa has urged the public to obey all regulations to minimise the spread of the Coronavirus in communities and the workplace.
