Mabuza Hands Over Land in Western Cape

Deputy President, David Mabuza, says the handing over of land to impoverished communities will help restore human dignity that they were stripped off through colonial conquests and apartheid policy of segregation.

In his capacity as the Chairperson of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on LandReform, Mabuza has been leading a land handover ceremony to the Covie Community, in the Western Cape.

According to government’s land audit, 79% of the land in South Africa is in private ownership, 14% by the state and 7% unaccounted for.

However, the second audit found that individuals, companies and trusts have a combined ownership of 90% of the total land that was audited.
