Banyana Banyana striker Hilga Magaia says South Africa should take a positive mindset into their opening match at the FIFA Women’s World Cup against Sweden on Sunday, and not be intimidated by their position in the FIFA rankings. South African will kick start their World Cup campaign against the third ranked Swedish team in Group G, before they clash with Italy five days later and close off the group stages against Argentina on 28 July.

Banyana Banyana will be making their second appearance in the Women’s World Cup after their debut in France 4 years ago, and will go into this tournament as the AFCON champions and the second highest ranked African team after Nigeria. Magaia will be making her first appearance at the global stage for South Africa, and will be looking to take her WAFCON winning heroics into the World Cup. The Limpopo born striker believes South African should take a positive mindset into their opening match against Sweden and not feel intimidated by the European powerhouse.
