Economist, Mike Schussler, says he has calculated that if the 21 day nationwide lockdown was to be extended by another ten days, about 1,6 million jobs would be lost in the formal sector by the end of the second quarter.
Reports have suggested that President, Cyril Ramaphosa, could extend the lockdown.
Schussler says there is a need for businesses to get back to operating.
