Mantashe Concerned Over Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Mineral and Energy Resources minister Gwede Mantashe says he supports a just transition from coal to renewable.

The minister has been delivering a keynote address at the three-day Africa Energy Indaba currently under way in Cape Town..

Mantashe has outlined plans stated by President Cyril Ramaphosa to secure additional electricity generation capacity in addressing the shortfall of 4000 megawatts, adding that generating electricity cannot be a rushed process as many people think..

Mantashe has also highlighted that South Africa will feel the impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as the the conflict can push up international oil prices if not attended to peacefully.
