Police in the province say there has been a massive drop in crime rates in the province since the implementation of the national lockdown.
Mass reports indicate that 22 000 people have been arrested for lockdown contraventions since March.
This indicates a 49-percent decrease in general crime in the province.
Provincial police commissioner, Khombinkosi Jula, says although police and law enforcement have been criticized for how they affected some arrests their dedication to enforcing the law remains key in curbing crime.
