National Union of Metal Workers of SA (Numsa) says the mass retrenchments at state-owned entities have become a hallmark of government’s economic policy, which is to collapse state-owned entities, in order to enable the private sector
to play a greater role.
This comes as the Post Office is reportedly planning to retrench six-thousand workers.
Numsa’s spokesperson, Phakamile Hlubi-Majola, says workers and their benefits are used as part of the litany of lame excuses, which are used to justify job cuts.
