Basic Education department Director-General, Mathanzima Mweli, says the performance of learners on Mathematics paper 1 and 2 will be compared as part of the leaked papers investigations.

Mweli had been addressing media in Pretoria on the status of the marking process of National Senior Certificate exam scripts.

Last year November, the Matric Mathematics Paper 2 set for the Class of 2020 was leaked shortly before being written and was set to be rewritten on the 15th of December, however the Pretoria high court ruled that the paper must not be rewritten.

The National Senior Certificate exam results are expected to be release on the 22nd of February.

If learners found to have been involved in the leaking of the any exam paper could be banned from writing the National Senior Certificate exams for up to three years while an employee in the education system can be jailed.
