Mbalula: Process of recruiting new Prasa board ongoing

Written by on 13 May, 2020

Transport minister, Fikile Mbalula, says the work to root out corruption and appoint competent individuals at passenger rail agency Prasa is ongoing and is critical.

The agency has lost 199-million-rand since the start of the lockdown.

The revenue loss now projected for the year is 757-million-rand.

Mbalula says he is starting the process of recruiting a new Prasa board that will hit the ground running.

” Most of the things at Prasa have been messed up by boards. We are in a hurry to appoint a board. Its easy to appoint a board, its the easiest decision you can take but with Prasa it didn’t work over the years. All boards were faced with different challenges, others tried their level best but they were either in conflict with management or in conflict with political principals in the form of the minister. That place is broken, ” said Mbalula.
